The actor infamously known for gracing the tabloids half-naked with his trusty bongo finally gets to bare it all officially in his new movie Magic Mike.
The film, which is loosely based on Channing Tatum’s own experiences as a young dancer, revolves around male strippers featuring Matthew McConaughey and several other Hollywood hunks like Joe Manganiello, and Matt Bomer to name a few.
McConaughey’s character was originally not supposed to strip, but the actor insisted on it. His justification? He would not feel right if he didn’t drop-trou for this particular film. You won’t hear any ladies complaining, Matt.
“[director Steven] Soderbergh said in the beginning that if it felt right, I could strip at the end of the movie. I said, ‘I gotta dance, man,” confesses the actor in a recent interview with The Advocate. “I would regret it for the rest of my life if I was in a male stripper movie and didn’t get up there and strip myself.”
Much to McConaughey’s surprise, stripping for the part came naturally to him. He enjoyed it so much it became “like a drug” and “couldn’t wait to do it again”.
